There’s been a lot of GIF talk recently amongst my animation and designer friends and I wanted to share a finding. Photoshop has a max frame length of 500 frames per GIF. Other apps tend to have their own max limit in reference to frame length, overall time, or frames per second playback. After doing some deep diving though, I was pleased to find out that the GIF format doesn’t have these limits built into it and as a result, you can do absurd things with them. Please note the GIF of the the movie “Shrek” below as an example. The question isn’t, “can you do it”, the question is now, “should you do it”.
